craaaaaap. i suck.

a classmate of mine just called me so he could get some headshots done, and when he asked me the price, i was like, "uhhhhh 35 dollars" and he was like, "that's it?" and i replied, "yeah".

gahhhhh i think i should've charged more, but i don't want to be all wishy washy with the changing of prices. ehhhhh dang. should i call him back and tell him a different price?

i'm so bad at this. reason #1 why i would not be a good freelance photographer: i suck at business. >_<

what should i charge?! i'm so lost. :[
you have more experience than me with this - how much more should i increase the price? and should i call him back and tell him a different price?

uhm... i think it may be too late. but it depends if you're gonna be getting them printed or if he is and such.

Like, what i'd do is charge for labor a fraction of any costs you have to make- But to keep it affordable, I would charge like 50cents a piece, so like $30 for 15 frames, or even $35 for 15 y'know?

But your work is like really good quality so for your work i'd charge at least $45 for like 10-15 frames LOL

idk. whatever you feel is best tho.
How many pictures are you planning on taking?

Cos i mean, like even if you TAKE a lot of pics, just tell him how much you want per piece, y'know?
I just thought it wasn't a lot because i was thinking like of how many pics i take at once LOL

i dunno how you take pictures...
it may actually be a bit reasonable LOL
idk....

sorry i like REALLY rambled a lot...

[identity profile] xradiostatic.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
hmmm. that sounds good. i'm slow, so i never even thought about charging per print. *facepalm*

yeah...i was thinking about $45 too...i won't be taking many photos; they'll just be simple headshots with no outfit changes, so yeah. haa.

no, you didn't ramble! you helped me a lot. thanks so much. :D

Aww, man that's too bad that you could get more money from it. But maybe with this experience you'll get a hang of the business aspect of photography?

BTW, I checked out your website and you have such amazing photos on there! You are absolutely talented! <3

[identity profile] xradiostatic.livejournal.com 2008-07-30 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, it's definitely a lesson learned! i've been talking to others and reading up on other photographer's rates, so hopefully that'll help me.

aw, thanks so much! <3

LMAO I'd charge something really ridiculously expensive, then lower it down until he finally gives in. 8D

I think 50 dollars should be the minimum though. And that's about as low as you should get. O: My uncle is a pro photographer and that's usually his dirt minimum.

[identity profile] xradiostatic.livejournal.com 2008-07-31 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
LOL. i should do that, and be all like, "500 DOLLARS!" XD

yeah, i agree; 50 should be the minimum. but i'm too nice, and i didn't want to charge "too much". i should be charging, like a 100. oh well.

Charge him more next time, and tell him that buisness went up. That's all he needs to know.
