a post of confusing proportions.
i'm bored so....i'm gonna talk about college/ACT scores!
I GOT A 25! YAYYYYYYY (note that i'm really late in telling you guys this - i took the ACT back in april/may).
the highest possible score is a 36, so obviously, i didn't do an amazing job, but i didn't do terribly either. i guess i'm in the above average range, since the national average is a 19 (eek!). i took the ACT my sophomore year, and i got a 23, and my goal was to get a 26 the second time, so i believe i did pretty good. i took the ACT a 3rd time in june to see if i could get a higher score, and i got a 23. :[ oh well.
specific scores:
composite score: 25 - 82% (rank)
english: 28 (YAY! this means i can skip to english 102 at UIC if i get in) - 90% (rank)
combined english/writing: 26 - 81% (rank)

usage/mechanics: 15 (out of possible 18)mathematics: 23 (ehhh. i guess this is decent. better than the first time where i got a 19.) - 69% (rank) :[[[[
rhetorical skills: 14 (out of possible 14)
pre-algebra: 12 (don't know total possible points)reading: 28 (yay again!) - 87% (rank)
algebra/coordinate geometry: 10
plane geometry/trigonometry: 13 (obviously, trig is my strong point!)
social studies/sciences: 15science: 21 (EVIL. EEEEEVIL. the graphs were freakin' confusing! i think i even dozed off in the middle of this section. i am jealous of those who got a 27 [aka my best friend]) - 58% (rank) :[[[[[
arts/literature: 14
combined english/writing: 26 - 81% (rank)
writing: 8 (out of 12 points)I'M SO MAD ABOUT THE WRITING PART. gahhhh. on my 3rd ACT where i got a lower composite score, i got a 12 out of 12 and a 99% rank in writing! WHY OH WHY DIDN'T THAT HAPPEN ON MY BETTER TEST?! :[
yeah so...my heart is set on university of illinois at chicago (UIC). the tuition is SUPER good ($3,330 a year [excluding books and board - i'll be living at home] is EXCELLENT.), and i've heard good things from past students, so i'm excited to go on a tour there. i wish they had early action though.
so since i got a 28 in english, i'll be exempt from the english placement test at UIC, and i'll be put in a 102 english class. if i get a 4 or 5 on my ap english composition exam, then i'll be done with all my english classes!
also, i'm planning to take the ap psychology exam (although my school doesn't offer the class), so if i get a 4 or 5 on that exam as well, that will fill 1 of the 2 social science classes for the college of art and architecture at UIC.
PLUS, i have the college credit from the photo I class at columbia, so that'll cover one of the required photo classes or an an elective.
so towards the end of the school year, i was accepted into link crew - a program where juniors and seniors with good grades and a decent track record (as far as detentions/write ups) get to mentor the incoming freshman. so i have to go to school (NOOOO) on wednesday and thursday for training for the freshies' orientation. it'll be WAY too freakin' long - from 8 am to 2pm?! *faints* but i have to go or i'll be kicked out of the crew. :[
senior orientation is next week, where we are supposedly going to receive our schedules (only if we pay our school fee). i hope they're telling the truth, because they said this every year, and then they were like, "oh. we're sorry! the computer/internet/printers are down/acting funny/being repaired, so we can't pass out the schedules today!" and everyone is majorly disappointed, because that's the only reason to go to orientation.
so hopefully i'll have these classes:
advanced band
pop cultures
college algebra
anatomy/physiology
behavioral science (aka psychology)
ap english language and composition
computer science I: visual basic (if i get this class, i'll be the oldest! it's a sophomore class, but the teacher is gonna try to get me in)
okay okay. i'm gonna stop talking now. i bet you guys are like, "we really don't care about your stupid act scores and your classes" :P
now that i'm done talking about myself, how are you guys? ^_^

I keep seeing really conflicting numbers about UIC...$3300 from you, $9000 from a website I was on, $9000 from when I went to orientation, and $14,000 from my cousin (who is also living at home). I am pretty confuseddd =(
I definitely would not feel bad about your writing score. A friend of mine is our class' valedectorian and in like, all AP classes and was going to go into journalism until a little while ago and her best score is a 7. And I'm a much worse writer than she is [and I'm not in AP English] and I got a 12 =/ So I don't even know how they grade it.

i don't feel too bad about my writing score, but i just wish i could take the 12 from my other test and replace the 8. :D i don't know how they score it either. i guess it depends on who is reading it. :/

Hehe yeahh I know. I so wish you could take different scores from different tests and mash them togetherrr ! I could totally raise my score. Stupid ACT :x
